Utter iPhone 4 Chaos

Clearly the sales pitch of the iPhone 4 has completely outstripped the ability of any of the UK operators to support the sales. Seems to me to be utter chaos... www.geeky-gadgets.com have been trying to get answers from the operators...

Apple has started selling the iPhone 4 in the UK from their online store, and they are selling it SIM free, which means that you can use it with any mobile phone network you want in the UK, as long as they support the new Micro SIM cards.

The 16GB iPhone 4 is available for £499 whilst the 32GB model is being sold for £599, and whilst these prices may seem expensive this is a smart move by Apple as it gives consumers more choice and the mobile phone networks are no longer in control of how and when iPhone customers buy and iPhone.

The mobile operators in the UK are confused as to what is going on to say the least, Geeky Gadgets has spoken to Vodafone, O2 and Orange this morning and we are hearing the same sort of thing from each network.

Orange told us that they were expecting to have information today on the iPhone 4, and were expecting to start pre-orders from today.

Vodafone told us that they will start selling the iPhone 4 from 7PM tonight online, although we are not sure how accurate this is.

O2 has told us that you won’t be able to pre-order the iPhone 4 through them, instead they told us that you will be able to buy it from them from the 24th of June 2010. O2 also said that if you want to pre-order an iPhone 4 on O2 you will be able to do this through the Carphone Warehouse, although they didn’t know when this service will be available.

As soon as we get more information, from the various mobile phone networks in the UK we will let you guys know.

The apple store has been up and down all morning as well, so at this point - it's anyone's guess as to what's really going on.
